I finally understand modern art!

146rosarioc, Dec 2024

Boris was really engaging and knowledgeable. He made

My 12 year old very interested in modern art and explained not just the art but the historical context in terms that were easy to understand and remember. I myself have learn and understood so much about modern art like never before. Above all, Boris was very kind and pleasant to spend 2 hours with.

Incredible tour

Boris gave an amazing tour of the Pompidou’s diverse collection. His itinerary was thorough, cohesive, insightful. I loved Boris’ unique perspective as it allowed me to better understand the works of art. He elucidated a larger historical and social context for each artwork. He weaved together a map where the paintings/artefacts were portrayed as different artists’ reactions to modernity : either embrace it or search meaning elsewhere. I cannot recommend the tour enough! Simply wonderful!

Boris gave us an excellent overview of the Pompidou. It was a good beginning for the huge collection of contemporary art.

3rd tour with Boris!

BackPacker817465, Dec 2024

In 2019, my wife and I booked a last-minute private tour of the Orsay on a whim. Our primary motivation admittedly was skipping the line, but with Boris at the helm the tour turned out to be our most interesting museum visit ever. So prior to returning in April 2023 with our 11-year-old daughter we eagerly booked Boris for the Louvre and the Pompidou.

My usual pedestrian approach to art museums has been prioritizing seeing all of the works--ploughing through sequentially and perhaps dwelling on a few intriguing pieces. Boris eschews completionism for quality. He focuses on the 10-15 most important works in the museum and provides rich historical, cultural, and political context, which will greatly improve your appreciation and understanding. A painting of a black box on a white canvas is something I would normally walk right by, but with Boris unlocking the context I can now appreciate it as a major turning point for art, religion, and Russian politics. It is a rare opportunity to have a scholar explain art to you.

This tour isn't designed for kids, but Boris made a Herculean effort to keep our attention-challenged daughter engaged while also providing a level of sophistication that appealed to us parents. Looking forward to booking Boris for our next visit!

Fantastic guides for a fabulous museum

Jenna_S, Dec 2024

We had a fantastic tour with Boris and Mila at the Museum. Traveling with three kids in between ages to museums can be a challenge but they expertly guided us through and interested us and challenged us to actually think about the art and concepts we were seeing. By the end of the tour our kids weren’t just asking for conceptual understanding of the artists but trying to understand how sculptures were made and built.

It was truly fabulous and we would 100% use them again as they’ve made the Pompidou our favorite museum!
